However, its not like we can call in at work and say, Sorry! Cant come to work today . . . I feel queer. Homosexuality shouldnt be used as a means to deny people rights for doing so is just as ridiculous as denying someone a job because they are black. However the issue is just as serous as racism and people need to start taking notice and action. What does freedom mean to you? Some people think that freedom is to saying or doing anything you want with out any repercussions. Ok, thats true to a certain degree . . . I mean, there are several ethical limitations to freedom such as murder or abuse. For example, you dont have the freedom to go out there and shoot someone you dont like and not get arrested for it. Likewise, our government might now put limitations on homosexuality and not allow gays to get married. If this were the same circumstance but involving blacks, it would be racist; if it were involving women, it would be sexism and if it was involving a Jew, it would be Anti-Semitism. All those victims owudl be protected by the law but the law refused to protect homosexuality. Why? Are they not humans like us? Do they not eat the same food we do? Do they not breathe the same air we do? Do they not love others like we do? So, why does the so-called opening minded North American community deny gays their rights? So religion is against homosexuality. Thats great but dont we believe in separation of church and state? What does religion have to do with the law? Religion also forbids other things but the law allows them so why is it such a big deal for homosexuality? For example, until 50 years ago, it was against the law for stores to be open on Sunday and now its perfectly normal. And what about those people who dont believe in religion? What about the atheists? Why would they have to follow through with law when religion doesnt even apply to them? Religion in itself is a funny thing. Isnt it funny how religion I created to bring us all together yet it usually ends up being the sole cause of why we all fall apart.
